Our work with faith-based charities has led us to develop particular expertise in some of the key sectors in which they operate such as: 

• Establishment of religious charities with complex governance structures, including federated structures and subsidiary charities with intra-group agreements and schemes of delegation;
• Acting for Trust Corporations acting as Custodian or Holding Trustees of charity property on behalf of individual churches and congregations.
• The establishment of branch organisations in the UK. We have often undertaken this in tandem with our firm’s immigration team where a Minister of Religion is to be appointed from abroad;
• Employment advice for religious organisations, in particular where this intersects with the Equality Act and other relevant regulations; and
• Historic religious buildings or graveyards where permanent endowment exists and advising on the options that are available in order to remove such restrictions.
